B.Sc Nursing


B.Sc in Nursing is an undergraduate course that all nursing aspirants can pursue in different B.Sc Nursing College in India.  The course, in India, is offered as a 4- year undergraduate program for all students who have cleared class 12th from the stream of science. The Course can be availed at any recognized nursing institute or university, with the appropriate recognition from the authorized body (Indian Nursing Council & State Nursing Council).

The curriculum followed for B.Sc (Nursing) is as per the guidelines of Indian Nursing Council.
 
The program has been designed to train the students in generalist nursing practices. Students will be trained and educated on the process of wellness, illness & disease management, health promotion along with the taking of the dying as part of becoming a nurse. The program focuses on mastering the various competencies of the Nursing field.


AIM

The aim of undergraduate nursing program-

Prepare graduate to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses end midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative& rehabilitative service.



Objectives

On completion of the Nursing program he graduate will be able to:

1. Apply knowledge from physical, biological, and behavioral science, medicine including alternative systems and nursing in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.

2. Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors, which effect health of individuals and groups.

3. Providing nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups.

4. Demonstrate critical thinking skill in making decisions in all situations in order to provide quality care.

5. Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care.

6. Provide promotive, preventive and restorative health services in line with the national health policies and programmes.

7. Practice within the framework of codes of ethics and professional conduct, and acceptable standards of practice within the legal boundaries.

8. Demonstrate skill in teaching to individuals and groups in clinical/community health settings.

9. Participate effectively as members of the health team in health care delivery system.

10. Demonstrate leadership and managerial skills in clinical/community health settings.


Eligibility for B.Sc(N)

The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st Dec of the year in with admission is sought.

Minimum education

10+2 passed with science (PCB) & English Core/English Elective with aggregate of 45% marks from recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/OCSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board.
Student shall be medically fit.
Students appearing in 10+2 examination in science conducted by National Institute of open school with 45% marks.
Students will be admitted once in a year.

Selection process for B.Sc (N)- Based on entrance exam conducted by College/University.

Employment sectors- Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Military nursing services, Tutors at nursing colleges, industries, schools as school health nurse.
