ANTI RAGGING COMMITTEE

“RAGGING” DOES NOT BREAK THE ICE, IT BREAKS LIVES, CAREERS AND FAMILIES.

 

Aim

 

To root out ragging in all its forms from the Institution by instituting stringent anti-ragging measures and provisions for strict punishments to defaulters.

 

Anti ragging policy

 

Ragging is an offence in any form and is any form and is totally prohibited in and outside the campus of Maharaja Agarsain Nursing College, Narela. This rule applies to the campus, hotels, college transportation and outside the college premises. Weare committed to create a “ragging free” institution, thus ensuring a atmosphere conducive for learning and growth.

 

What Constitutes Ragging?


As defined by the UGC, Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:

 

1. Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.

 

2. Indulging in rowdy or indiscipline activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any other student.


3.Asking any student to do any act which such a student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique of psyche of  such fresher or any other student.


4. Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or fresher.


5. Any act of financial extortion of forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students.


6. Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse,homosexual assaults and stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures,causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person.


7.Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student.


8. Any act that effects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an inter to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.

 

Punishment that may be awarded for Ragging

 

Every incident of ragging will be investigated by the Discipline Committee Head who will going to the details and submit all relevant information to the Principal along with their findings and recommendations.

 

Further, the Discipline Committee of MACN will, depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by the Committee, award, to those found guilty, one or more of the following punishments, namely:

 

1. Suspension from attending classes and / or academic privileges

2. With holding/withdrawing scholarship / fellowship and other benefits

3. Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process

4. Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, events, tournament, youth festival, etc.

5. Suspension /expulsion from the hostel

6. Rustication from the institution

7. Fine submission.

 

Following measures are taken by the institution to prevent ragging:

 

1. Written notice expressing that ragging is totally prohibited in institution.

2.Those who are found guilty of ragging/ abetting ragging, actively or passively or being part of a conspiracy to promote ragging is liable to be punished in accordance with these regulations as well as under the provisions of any penal law for the time being in force.

 

Members of Anti ragging committee at the college and the university are following: Anti Ragging Committee.

 

Anti-ragging squad:


1. The members of the squad will visit at least twice in a week all potential areas of ragging on or outside the campus.

2. The squad conducts surprise visits/raids on hostels and other hot spots of ragging and apprehends the culprits.

3. It shall record all verbal/telephonic/written complaints and take action as stipulated in the bye-laws of the university.

4. It shall keep the principal informed of all events/occurrences of ragging in the college.

5. Anti-ragging squad will be assisted by members of college teaching staff detailed by the office of the principal on day to day basis to keep vigil on untoward events.

Objectives

 

Ensure ragging free campus and college.

For fulfilling organizational missions and objectives, by maintaining free of ragging,prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging.

Maintain amicable relations among students and faculty.

Punishing those who indulge in ragging.

 

Functions

 

To maintain documentation regarding the Anti ragging committee members.

To keep /maintain the MACN ragging free campus.

To keep in touch with the students to identify any incidents of ragging.

To clarify /investigate about the incident.

If found guilty, first warn, and in subsequent incidents take strong actions like punishments and fines.

Report the incident to the higher Authorities for further management.

To keep vigilance / check regularly to stop/prevent/avoid ragging among students.
